Top o’ the Morning: A St. Patrick’s Day Hike at Red Rock
This morning I got up with the sun and walked my favorite loop trail, Fossil Ridge, near Cowboy Trails. The ponies were being saddled for the day, and dust rose in the morning light as three wranglers led four to five horses and mules each to the chute barn. The air was crisp and cool, and the cactus and tiny flowers glowed in the golden backlight. I stopped to smell the creosote several times.
